S 239

S 239 was a high-power long-range height-finder operating in S band. It was designed to operate in static installations in conjunction with long-range surveillance radars. The antenna is mounted on the roof of a small house containing transceiver, receiver and ancillary equipment.

The antenna consisted of a vertically mounted single curved (cylindrical) parabolic reflector fed by a slotted waveguide. It formed a beaver-tail shaped beam with a vertical beamwidth of 1 degree and a horizontal beamwidth of 5 degrees. The antenna nodded mechanically 10 times per minute to cover a vertical angle between -1° and 25° relative to the horizon.

This radar was composed of existing assemblies of other radars but was not widely used. In the Swedish Air Force, this radar was given the name PH-13.
