39N6 “Casta 2E2”

“Casta 2E2” (Russian designators “39N6” - cyrillic: “39Н6”, or “Kasta 2-2”) is a medium-range, mobile, 3D, low-altitude surveillance radar for both military and civilian use. It has better performance characteristics than its predecessor Casta-2E1, while retaining the advantages of the previous model. Applications include air defense, border surveillance and air traffic control. Aircraft, hovering helicopters, drones, cruise missiles even at low altitudes, and sea targets are detected.

The advantages over its predecessor are that the data is received and processed in two channels, making it possible to measure an approximate altitude of the target. A plotextractor has been integrated which digitally processes the radar data and automatically detects objects, identifies them and measures their coordinates. Another innovation is the quickly mountable high mast, which offers an antenna height of 14 m and thus facilitates site selection. To increase the detection range against low-flying targets, the antenna can optionally be operated on a 50 m high mast. The integrated radio channel allows data transmission over a distance of up to 50 km. The system can be remotely operated from up to 300 m by wire.

The complete system consists of electronic vehicle, antenna vehicle as well as a vehicle with the electric aggregates. The operator workstations, accessories and spare parts are located in 2 single-axle trailers. A remote operator station can be operated up to 300 m away from the system.
